Google Caffeine – Hit or Miss?

Will Google’s latest indexing changes be the making or breaking of your website?
It’s been reported in .Net magazine this month that Google is once again making changes to the way it indexes web pages – and this time it’s radical.
The project, nicknamed Caffeine, aims to improve indexing speed, accuracy and comprehensiveness of results. Apparently on the surface not much seems to be different – for the time being at least. If you try the Google versus Caffeine tool you’ll see that the search results are returned quicker and the rankings between the two differ slightly.
However, Caffeine does reportedly prioritise results slightly differently to Google. Unlike Google, Caffeine gives less priority to news content and images but the related search links at the end of the results are more focused.
.Net quotes the Domus agency as saying:
“Interestingly, the difference between the better performing sites and keywords versus the worse performing ones was related to the consistency of blogging efforts. The sites that had related blogs with the most frequent posts fared better with Google’s new engine.”
It seems there has never been a more opportune time to start a business blog. Those who don’t could experience a severe impact on their site rankings.
