High Website Ranking: The Difference between Business Boom and Business Doom

High website ranking is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow waiting for everyone who’s running an online business. If you’re in the import/export business for example, there’s nothing more satisfying than typing the words “import and export” into Google’s search engine and have it come up in one of the top 2 positions. It’s hard to quantify the value of that kind of ranking. Internet savvy business owners realise that there’s nothing more important than improving their positions in the world of search engines, where Google, of course, is king.
If you’ve tried to save a few pounds by hiring a budget web designer and/or webmaster, you may want to rethink that strategy. An adequate web designer can get your site up and running and may know some html (although it’s not necessary in many cases). An average webmaster can handle the technical glitches that occur on any website. But high website ranking can only be delivered by an excellent webmaster, ideally with a team which includes a graphic artist, a programmer and a copywriter. If you’re truly lucky, you may be able to find that webmaster “wizard” who knows quite a bit in each of those categories.
To back up a bit, high website ranking is accomplished in a variety of ways. The number and quality of links that lead to your web page is how Google determines your place in the search engine pecking order. Obviously, the more good links there are to your web page, the greater your chances of moving up the search rankings. Remember that links from high traffic sites that link to yours is preferable to sites with little or no traffic. Also, the number of times the same keywords are used on a page is a technique heavily favoured by Google, and not as important to other search engines.
Titling your website is always tricky. You want the best, most memorable name so that people will remember it, or add it to their favourites so they will come back again. High website ranking is also attained by using a title page that is laden with keywords. Google, in particular, pays a lot of attention to title pages. Why is Google mentioned often throughout this article? Let’s face it. When talking search engines, Google is la crème de la crème. By comparison, all the others are chopped liver
